proteia helps you set a protein goal and track it, partly with AI photo scans. It's an informational tool, not a doctor — talk to a professional about your actual health needs. A subscription is $9.99/month or $59.99/year, billed and auto-renewed through your Apple ID or Google Play account, and cancelled the same way. All refunds go through Apple or Google, not us.
Please read these Terms of Service (the "Terms") carefully before using proteia. They're the legal agreement between you and Duomatic LLC ("Duomatic," "we," "us," "our") governing your use of the proteia mobile application and related services (the "App"). By downloading, accessing, or using proteia, you agree to be bound by these Terms — including the Medical & Health Disclaimer, Subscription Policy, and Refund Policy below, all of which are part of this agreement. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.
You must be at least 18 years old to use proteia and to create an account. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. proteia is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13 — see our Privacy Policy's Children's Privacy section for more.
proteia helps you set a personalized daily protein target and track your protein intake, including through AI-powered photo estimates of meals you capture with your device's camera. Your first AI-powered meal scan is free; continued access to unlimited scans, daily tracking, and history requires a Premium subscription (§5).
proteia is not a medical app or a substitute for professional care. Its estimates are approximations meant to help you build a habit, not a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian about your specific health needs — especially if you're pregnant, nursing, managing a medical condition, have a history of disordered eating, or are taking any medication, including GLP-1 receptor agonists.
proteia is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. All protein calculations, nutritional breakdowns, meal-photo analyses, and related content are provided for general informational and educational purposes only.
Meal photo analysis relies on artificial intelligence and computer vision, which can sometimes misidentify foods, portion sizes, or preparation methods, and may produce results that differ from a food's actual nutritional content. Don't rely on proteia as your sole source of nutrition information, especially where precision matters — for example, managing a chronic illness, an allergy, or a clinical nutrition plan.
Nothing in the App constitutes, and should not be relied upon as, professional medical, dietary, or clinical advice. Always consult a qualified physician, registered dietitian, or other healthcare professional before making changes to your diet — especially if you are pregnant or nursing, have a diagnosed medical condition, have a history of an eating disorder, or are taking prescription medication, including GLP-1 receptor agonists such as semaglutide or tirzepatide. References to GLP-1 medications in the App are informational only and don't constitute medical advice or an endorsement of any specific medication or treatment.
proteia is not designed or intended for use in a medical emergency. If you're experiencing a medical emergency, call your local emergency number immediately.
You assume full responsibility for how you use the information proteia provides. Duomatic disclaims all liability for any health outcome, decision, or consequence related to your use of the App, to the fullest extent permitted by law — see §12 (Limitation of Liability).
A Premium subscription renews automatically until you cancel it through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings — not through us.

A proteia account lets you calculate your personal protein target and try one AI-powered meal scan at no cost. A paid subscription unlocks unlimited AI meal scans, daily tracking, and history, plus any other features we designate as part of the paid subscription from time to time.
As of the date of this agreement, a Premium subscription is offered at $9.99 USD per month or $59.99 USD per year (prices may vary by region and are shown in your local currency at checkout, and may change as described in §5.5). All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, as applicable — not directly by Duomatic. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually, matching your selected plan) unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the then-current price. You can review the exact renewal date and current price for your subscription in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings at any time.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device account settings:

If you cancel, you'll keep subscription access through the end of the period you already paid for, and your subscription won't renew after that.
We may change subscription prices from time to time. If we do, we (or Apple/Google, as applicable) will notify you in advance, and the new price will apply starting with your next renewal period unless you cancel before then.
If proteia offers a free trial or promotional pricing, the specific terms — length, what happens at the end of the trial, and any card-upfront requirement — will be disclosed at the time of the offer. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited if you purchase a paid subscription before the trial ends.
All payments go through Apple or Google, so all refunds do too — we can't issue them ourselves. Request one directly from Apple or Google.
Because all proteia purchases are billed through Apple's App Store or Google Play's in-app billing systems, all billing transactions and refund requests are governed by, and processed directly by, Apple or Google in accordance with their own refund policies — not by Duomatic. We do not have the ability to issue refunds directly, view your payment details, or override Apple's or Google's refund decisions.

If you're having trouble with billing, or believe you were charged in error, contact us at hello@getproteia.com and we'll do what we can to help you resolve it with Apple or Google, even though we don't control the outcome.

When you upload a meal photo or submit other content through the App, you grant Duomatic a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, process, and analyze that content solely to provide and improve the Service — for example, generating your protein estimate — as described in our Privacy Policy. As explained there, we don't store your meal photos after analysis, and we don't use them to train AI models or for advertising. You retain all other rights to your content.
The App, including its design, text, graphics, logos, the "proteia" name and marks, and underlying software, is owned by Duomatic LLC or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Except for the limited right to use the App as intended, these Terms don't grant you any rights to our intellectual property.
proteia relies on third-party services, including Apple's and Google's platforms and in-app purchase systems, and AI model providers (see our Privacy Policy). Your use of those services is also subject to their own terms — for example, Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions and Google Play's Terms of Service. We aren't responsible for the acts or omissions of these third parties.
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT THE APP WILL BE ACCURATE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR ERROR-FREE. AS DESCRIBED IN §4, NUTRITIONAL AND PROTEIN ESTIMATES ARE APPROXIMATIONS AND ARE NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL OR DIETARY ADVICE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DUOMATIC LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, HEALTH OUTCOMES, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) $50 USD. SOME JURISDICTIONS DON'T ALLOW THESE LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
You agree to indemnify and hold Duomatic harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the App.
You may stop using proteia and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms, or for any reason with reasonable notice, except where immediate termination is warranted — for example, to protect the safety or security of the App or its users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including §4, §6, §9, §11, §12, and §13) will survive.
Most disputes go to individual arbitration instead of court, and you can't join a class action. You can opt out within 30 days of first agreeing to these Terms if you'd rather keep your court rights.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
Except as set out in §15.6, you and Duomatic agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App (a "Dispute") will be resolved by binding, individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court.
YOU AND DUOMATIC AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not preside over any form of a class or representative proceeding.
If AAA's rules in effect at the time a dispute is filed include supplementary provisions governing mass, batched, or coordinated arbitrations (however titled), those AAA provisions govern any "Mass Filing" — a coordinated set of 25 or more substantially similar arbitration demands filed against Duomatic by or with the assistance of the same law firm(s) or coordinated group within any 60-day period — and control over any conflicting term elsewhere in this §15. If AAA has no such provisions in effect at the relevant time, the parties agree to resolve a Mass Filing through bellwether proceedings — arbitrating a small number of representative claims first, with the outcomes informing resolution of the rest — together with any other case-management procedures the arbitrator(s) reasonably order to resolve the Mass Filing fairly and efficiently.
You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice to hello@getproteia.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, including your name, your account email, and a clear statement that you wish to opt out of arbitration. If you opt out, neither you nor Duomatic will be required to arbitrate Disputes under this §15, and §15.7 governs instead.
Either party may still: (a) bring an individual claim in small claims court, and (b) seek injunctive or other equitable relief in court to prevent actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation, or violation of intellectual property rights.
For any Dispute not subject to arbitration under this §15 — including if you opt out under §15.5 — the state or federal courts located in Wyoming will have exclusive jurisdiction, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
If any part of this §15 is found unenforceable, the rest of §15 remains in effect — except that if the class-action waiver in §15.3 is found unenforceable as to a particular Dispute, the arbitration agreement will not apply to that Dispute, which must instead be brought under §15.7.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in the App or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use proteia after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
